Operating in Saudi Arabia: Post-Setup Checklist

Once your entity is live, compliance becomes a rhythm rather than a one-off. This checklist walks through the recurring obligations — monthly, quarterly, annual, and ongoing — that help keep your government portals active and your operation running without interruption. It is a practical readiness aid, not a legal or tax audit; regulated filings may require specialist advice or authority approvals.

Finance, HR, and operations leads responsible for an established Saudi entity.

Monthly

  • Payroll processed and salaries paid through the Wage Protection System (WPS)
  • WPS records reconciled against the wages declared on the labor file
  • GOSI contributions calculated and settled for the month
  • Sales invoices issued as compliant Fatoora e-invoices
  • Receivables reviewed and collections followed up on a set cadence
  • Supplier payables reviewed and reconciled

Quarterly

  • VAT return prepared and filed with ZATCA for the period
  • Output and input VAT reconciled to the accounting records
  • VAT liability settled by the ZATCA deadline
  • Management accounts closed and reviewed for the quarter
  • Saudization (Nitaqat) status checked against your current band
  • Upcoming renewals and deadlines mapped for the next quarter

Annual

  • Commercial Registration (CR) renewed before expiry
  • Chamber of Commerce membership renewed

  • MISA investment license reviewed for renewal and reporting
  • Employment contracts and HR policies reviewed against current law
